We Were at the White House, Standing Together to Fight Trafficking!
 

Dear Friends,

Last Friday, I had the honor of attending the White House Summit on Human Trafficking to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, the first law that made human trafficking a federal crime. 

The Summit concluded with President Trump signing of an executive order which included a $42 million budget increase to expand support for victims of human trafficking, boost investigations and prosecutions, and create a new White House staff position to focus solely on Human Trafficking and child pornography. 

Steadfast efforts to prioritize the prevention of human trafficking were spearheaded in part by Ivanka Trump, the president’s senior adviser. Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General William Barr, Ambassadors, members of Congress, government officials, law enforcement, non-profit organizations, and sex trafficking survivors were among the speakers at the Summit.

Fighting the scourge of human trafficking requires additional funding, resources and law enforcement. That is exactly what our Children's Internet Safety Presidential Pledge called for when signed by candidate Donald Trump. The President continues to deliver on his promises, and as a result, survivors of sex trafficking will have more access to the services they need. We must now curb the demand for trafficking through the aggressive enforcement of our existing obscenity laws.

Within hours of the White House summit concluding, I flew to St. Louis, Mo., to speak at the Eagle Council and Educational Policy Conference to present: Protecting Children from Sexualization in the Digital World. I shared the scope and dangers of the exploitative pornography and child sex abuse industry with the audience, along with EIE's campaigns to combat these societal threats, including the Safe WiFi^SM campaign, the Presidential Pledge, Governor's Pledge, and State Attorneys General Pledge.
