EIE Internet Safety Experts Featured in Newly Released "Voices of Courage" Magazine
 

Great Falls, Va., January 31, 2023 -- Enough Is Enough^® (EIE), a national non-profit organization fighting to make the internet safer for children and families since 1994, is pleased to announce three articles authored by its leadership team were published in the newly released digital version of Voices of Courage magazine, dedicated to honoring the “everyday” heroes who selflessly fight to protect human rights.

The release coincides with National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and has a special focus on those who fall prey to the evil of human trafficking and sexual exploitation and features their brave rescuers. These champions come from all walks of life to change their communities and the global community for the better. Readers will be inspired to find out who they are and why they took up the challenge.

EIE articles featured include the following topics: "30 Years of Pioneering a Movement to Protect Childhood Innocence: The Advancements, the Pitfalls and the Vision to Keep Children Safer Online" by EIE President and CEO Donna Rice Hughes; "Pimps and Prostitutes: Words Matter " by EIE Policy and Programs Director, Bill Woolf; and "Finding Hope in the Battle to Curb the Online Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents" by EIE Communications Director, Kathy Hatem.

• Be it in the home, school, shopping mall, or anywhere else children have unfiltered internet access, they can be lured, seduced, and groomed by pornographers, predators, and traffickers. No child is immune from online victimization.  -- Donna Rice Hughes

• While a pimp should be called by their true profession—a trafficker, a prostitute should be identified by their true title—a sexually exploited person. These are persons (most commonly women, and often children), that are defrauded, coerced or forced into lifestyles of sexual servitude. -- Bill Woolf

• "It’s undoubtedly difficult to fathom children in the 21^st century can continue to be exploited and their innocence shattered at such preposterous rates. They count on the grownups in this world to protect them – not harm them, after all!" -- Kathy Hatem

Additional stories will cover topics including, but not limited to, situational awareness, taking the next steps after a trauma (PTSD), the call for better care for victims, survivor stories, and more. There will be tips for help, healing, and always for hope.

Voices of Courage magazine provides readers with articles to inspire, inform and motivate for years to come. A high-end full-color print edition of Voices of Courage is scheduled for distribution through major bookstores and retailers beginning April 1, 2023. Human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing multibillion-dollar criminal industry. According to Polaris, who operates the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline, there were 10,359 trafficking situations reported to the Hotline in 2021. In those situations, a total of 16,554 likely victims of trafficking were identified. As shocking as these numbers are, they are likely only a fraction of the actual problem. Those exploited by traffickers represent people of all races, genders, backgrounds, and social and economic statuses.
