Washington D.C. October 21, 2011– Mick Kicklighter, Director and Principal Investigator of the Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security Program at George Mason University and former Inspector General of the Department of Defense, joins Enough Is Enough®℠ (EIE) in the fight against Internet-initiated crimes against children as the newest member of the EIE Board of Directors.
EIE is a national 501(c)3 organization that works to make the Internet safer for children and families. Its award-winning Internet Safety 101®℠ program educates, equips and empowers caring adults with the knowledge and resources needed to protect kids from online dangers.
“When I learned of all that EIE does to protect children online, I knew this was an organization I wanted to be a part of. I am honored to join EIE’s Board of Directors.” General Kicklighter said.
General Kicklighter is a highly decorated General in the United States Army and has spent over 50 years as a public servant. He serves on the boards of numerous other organizations, including the World War II Memorial, where he serves as Chairman of the Board. He is also former Chairman of Habitat for Humanity.
“No one understands better than an accomplished military leader like General Kicklighter what it takes to win battles and a war. You need both offensive and defensive strategies. EIE has been on the frontlines in a war targeting Internet-initiated crimes against children for nearly two decades. We seek to empower adults to become the first line of defense to keep kids safe in the cyber world,” said Donna Rice Hughes, President and CEO of EIE. “We are humbled and grateful General Kicklighter joined our board.”
“Kids online and offline lives have merged, and I support EIE’s three pronged strategy which states the public, the technology industry and law enforcement share the responsibility of promoting cyber security to keep our families safe,” General Kicklighter said. “To me, there is no greater duty than to protect the future of the world through protecting our most precious resource and the world’s future leaders – our children.”
During this National Cyber Security Month, EIE is pleased to publically announce the addition of General Kicklighter, a man who’s kept the nation secure as an Army General and works to keep the nation digitally secure in his current directorial position, to the EIE board of directors.
